Abstract

This study aimed to investigate the effectiveness of a training program based on the Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS) to develop 21st-century skills among female student teachers at the Department of Early Childhood in the College of Education, Umm Al-Qura University. To achieve its objective, the study employed a quasi-experimental design within an experimental methodology. The study sample consisted of (23) female students from the Department of Early Childhood in the College of Education, Umm Al-Qura University. A guide for the NGSS-based training program was developed, and a 21st-century skills questionnaire was used as a data collection tool. The study concluded that the training program based on the Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS) was effective in developing 21st-century skills among the female student teachers at the Department of Early Childhood in the College of Education, Umm Al-Qura University. This was evident across all skills included in the assessment: (Learning and Innovation Skills, Information, Media, and Digital Literacy Skills, and Life and Career Skills), as well as in the overall score.

الملخص

هدفت الدراسة الحالية إلى الكشف عن فاعلية برنامج تدريبي قائم على معايير العلوم للجيل القادم NGSS لتنمية مهارات القرن الحادي والعشرين لدى الطالبات المعلمات في قسم الطفولة المبكرة بكلية التربية بجامعة أم القرى، ولتحقيق هدف الدراسة، تم استخدام المنهج التجريبي، ذي التصميم شبه التجريبي، حيث بلغت عينة الدراسة (23) طالبة من طالبات قسم الطفولة المبكرة بكلية التربية بجامعة أم القرى، وتم عمل دليل للبرنامج التدريبي قائم على معايير العلوم للجيل القادم NGSS، وتم تطبيق استبانة مهارات القرن الحادي والعشرين كأداة لجمع البيانات، وتوصلت إلى فاعلية البرنامج التدريبي القائم على معايير العلوم للجيل القادم (NGSS) لتنمية مهارات القرن الحادي والعشرين لدى الطالبات المعلمات في قسم الطفولة المبكرة بكلية التربية بجامعة أم القرى، وذلك في جميع المهارات التي تضمنها المقياس: (مهارات التعلم والإبداع، ومهارات تكنولوجيا المعلومات ووسائل الإعلام والثقافة الرقمية، ومهارات الحياة والمهنة)، والدرجة الكلية للمقياس.
