Abstract

This study aimed to identify the requirements for developing postgraduate programs at the College of Education, King Saud University, from the perspective of female faculty members. It also examined whether statistically significant differences existed in responses based on academic department and academic rank. A questionnaire was used as the primary data collection instrument and administered to 186 female faculty members—including professors, associate professors, and assistant professors—out of a total participants of 201. The findings indicated that all categories of development requirements were considered highly important. Among academic requirements, the most critical was achieving a balance between theoretical and practical components within the curriculum. Regarding human resource requirements, the foremost need was providing professional development programs to enhance faculty expertise across various specializations. In terms of material requirements, the development of a comprehensive and accessible database on graduate programs was identified as most significant. The results showed no statistically significant differences in participants’ responses based on academic department or academic rank. The study recommended reviewing current curricula to ensure balanced theoretical and practical integration and emphasized continuous program development to meet evolving labor market demands.

الملخص

هدفت الدراسة إلى التعرف على متطلبات تطوير برامج الدراسات العليا بكلية التربية في جامعة الملك سعود من وجهة نظر عضوات هيئة التدريس، والكشف عن الفروق ذات الدلالة الإحصائية – إن وجدت- في استجابات العينة تعزى لمتغيري (القسم الأكاديمي، الدرجة العلمية)، واستُخدمتْ الاستبانة كأداة لجمع البيانات، وطُبقتْ على عينة عددها (186) من عضوات هيئة التدريس بكلية التربية في جامعة الملك سعود من درجة (أستاذ، أستاذ مساعد، أستاذ مشارك)، وعددهن (201)، وتوصلتْ الدراسة إلى عدة نتائج من أهمها: أن متطلبات تطوير برامج الدراسات العليا بكلية التربية في جامعة الملك سعود لها أهمية بدرجة كبيرة، وتمثلت أهم المتطلبات الأكاديمية في ضرورة التوازن بين الجانبين النظري والتطبيقي في المقررات الدراسية، وتمثلت أهم المتطلبات البشرية في توفير برامج للتنمية المهنية لأعضاء هيئة التدريس بهدف تطويرهم مهنياً في تخصصاتهم المختلفة، وكانت أهم المتطلبات المادية هي توفير قاعدة بيانات شاملة عن برامج الدراسات العليا بالكلية متاحة لجميع المستفيدين، وأشارت إلى أنه لا توجد فروق ذات دلالة احصائية في استجابات العينة تبعاً لاختلاف متغيري (القسم الأكاديمي، الدرجة العلمية)، وأوصت الدراسة بضرورة إعادة النظر في المقررات الدراسية ، وضرورة التوازن بين الجانبين النظري والتطبيقي، والعمل على تطوير وتحديث البرامج الأكاديمية بما يسهم في الوفاء بمتطلبات سوق العمل.
